a little Christmas present…

25 Dec

Merry Christmas!

Here’s a little present for you, a musical magazine of loveliness from Soul Survivor.

Hope you have a lovely day and that 2011 brings good things.

PS Hope you enjoyed the Twelve posts of Christmas. In case you’re interested, I set most of them up from 18-22 December (have given myself a holiday from blogging, Facebook and Twitter during Christmas) because rest is important. Go and do likewise :)

Iraq: the shocking reality of life for Christians

24 Dec

Choosing to believe in God – it seems so easy – but it is incredibly dangerous for people living in Iraq who choose Jesus.

According to Open Doors, in under 20 years the population of Christians living in Iraq has fallen from over 1 million to less than 400,000.

They say “In the last five years, there has been a systematic campaign to kick Christians out of the country. They are saying, ‘You Christians are not accepted here – get out while you still can.’”

Attacks by Muslim extremists have left many dead and others fleeing for their lives. They are left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and scarring mental images of those left behind.

Many are finding themselves refugees for the first time this Christmas. (read more here)

Open Doors will provide safety, food, blankets and counselling for traumatised children and adults. This isn’t just about belief, it’s about helping people who are being tortured, beaten and killed for their faith.

NB God’s Smuggler is the amazing story of the founder of Open Doors, a quiet Dutch man known to millions as Brother Andrew. Sold 10 million copies so far.

Natwivity

Follow the Nativity story on twitter and your timeline will be peppered with the thoughts and feelings of Mary, Joseph, shepherds and wise men.

I love this idea. It’s so simple, fun and quirky. Most importantly it brings the Christmas story into our digital lives so we can reflect on the reason for the season.

The Natwivity have a website, a fun Facebook page and, of course, a twitter feed.
